Group Rules
Who we are, how the group works, and what we ask of every mom.
Who this group is for
Peanut Moms of Westchester is for pregnant moms and moms of kids five and under, in and around Westchester County. We get together all month long, both in person and online, with some events just for moms and others for the whole family, so there's always an easy way to build your mom tribe. Most moms show up not knowing anyone and end up feeling like Peanut Moms is family.
How it works
- We're a community of Westchester moms that meets in real life. Every month there's a full calendar of free get-togethers: playdates, stroller walks, classes, and moms' nights out. Most are in person; some, like our support groups and workshops, meet virtually. Our members help create the calendar. If there's an event you want to see, or a business you want to promote, email peanutmomswestchester@gmail.com and we'll try to make it happen!
- The group lives in two places: a private Facebook group for conversation, and a members-only events calendar where you find and RSVP to events.
- Any mom who fits the group above can sign up for the calendar. Every signup is reviewed, and once you're approved you can come to any event.
- We encourage you to join the Facebook group too, but it's not required. No Facebook? You can still sign up for the calendar and join every event.
- Want to add an event to the calendar, or have a question? Message us any time.
The rules
These apply everywhere we gather, in the Facebook group and at events.
- Be warm and supportive. We are first and foremost a community of mamas, in the group and in person.
- Give more than you take. No self-promotion, spam, or irrelevant links. If you have a business or service to offer, message us about hosting an event for the group instead.
- No buy/sell/give or childcare posts. They crowd out the connections this group is for. Message us and we'll point you to better places for those.
- Search before you post. Many questions have already been answered, and you can comment on a past post with follow-ups. If a post is declined, it's not personal.
- Keep recommendations focused on our events. For general activities and classes there are plenty of other groups, and we're happy to suggest some.
